Colour schemes

We’re a fair way off the stage of choosing a colour scheme for the exterior of our first narrowboat, but it’s measured in a handful of months, so we’re already thinking about colours. Of course, there’s the traditional green and red, but ideally we’re hoping to find something a bit different.

Here are a few of our ideas so far. We’d love to hear feedback on these, really we would, so, if you have a minute to spare, we’d be delighted if you’d comment here or vote in our poll (on the main page of this site as well as below the images here). If you do have the time, comments and suggestions are entirely welcome. For example: if an off-white hull is not a great idea, why? We think, properly finished – which it will be! – it’ll be straightforward to keep looking clean and smart, but we’d love to hear your views.

Thanks, and here are our options so far. Oh – and please note that these are, of course, representative colours only. They are certainly not meant to be accurate ideas of the actual blue, green or burgundy that we’ll eventually use!

  1. burgundy / green ? (rather than red / green)
    I think off-white will never look clean……………………

    Violet and black ?

    • Ahh…. but cleanliness depends to a considerable extent on quality of finish, and the finish will be rather good ;-)

Violet / black – interesting idea that one. Could look good.

What are you thinking?
